Operator and scope

Finocturne Website Operator maintains this site's financial tools, scenario comparisons, learning guides and case studies. Contact contact@finocturne.com for privacy matters. This is the operator's public designation; it does not represent that Finocturne is an incorporated company.

This policy covers Finocturne and correspondence received about the site. External websites, email providers and sharing platforms you choose to use have their own data practices.

Information we handle

The site currently has no member registration and does not require names, identity numbers, account or payment details to use its tools. Use example or appropriately de-identified figures and avoid sensitive information that identifies a person.

Connections still involve technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, browser and device details. If you email us, you provide your email address, message and any attachments you choose. Information can be identifiable in context even without a name.

Financial inputs, case handoffs and sharing

Financial calculations and scenario models currently run in your browser. We have not established our own backend calculation service or database for those inputs. Hosting services still deliver pages, code, fonts and other files; browser-based calculation does not mean there are no network requests.

When you choose to transfer certain case-study assumptions to a comparison, sessionStorage holds the parameters in the same browser tab. Imports reject handoffs older than 24 hours; this is an import-validity check, not automatic deletion at that time. Tab-session storage normally ends with the session, but browser session restoration can affect its lifetime.

Sharing can generate text or images locally. Some tools also let you explicitly include inputs in a link's # fragment rather than its query string. Fragments are normally excluded from HTTP requests to the website server, but recipients, browser history and sharing services may still obtain them. Review the sharing preview and avoid including sensitive information.

Why information is processed

Necessary connection and technical information supports page delivery, security, troubleshooting and operation. We use information you send to answer inquiries and handle reports. Theme preferences and case handoffs support the browsing actions you request.

Analytics is optional and requires your permission. It helps us understand page use, traffic sources and the user experience so we can improve tools and content. Declining does not restrict calculations, reading or normal navigation.

Cookies and browser storage

The localStorage key ft-theme records your light or dark preference; finocturne-analytics-consent records granted or denied. The consent record itself is not a cookie. It persists on the same origin across refreshes and language changes until changed, cleared or removed by the browser. Choices do not automatically transfer across devices, browsers or origins.

Case handoffs separately use sessionStorage. URL fragments, clipboard access and downloaded files are involved when you use the relevant sharing functions. Clearing site data removes browser-held site information, but does not delete files or copies you have already downloaded, emailed or shared.

After permission, Google Analytics may set first-party _ga and _ga_ cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Expiration and renewal depend on Google tag and property settings; we do not promise a fixed duration without verifying those settings. Browsers and privacy tools may restrict storage.

Google Analytics 4

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) as an optional analytics service. The Google tag loads only when analytics is enabled on the production site and you explicitly allow it. It is not loaded before a choice or after refusal. Test and preview origins do not activate production analytics through consent.

Our explicit page-view events contain the page title and a page address stripped of its query string and fragment. We do not attach actual calculator inputs as custom analytics parameters. Depending on its settings, the Google tag may also process browser and device details, referral information, approximate location, sessions and interactions; the connection itself sends technical information to Google. Enhanced Measurement, retention and other GA4 property settings can affect the actual scope.

The current frontend denies consent for advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization, and disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals. Local source inspection cannot confirm every GA4 administrative option. Settings that change these disclosures should be reviewed and the policy updated before use.

Cloudflare and other providers

The production site currently delivers static pages and files through Cloudflare Workers Static Assets. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request paths and times, response statuses and device information for delivery, security and troubleshooting. This necessary processing continues when optional GA4 analytics is declined.

Providers process information as needed to deliver the site, handle correspondence, provide analytics you permit, or respond to legally required requests. Email providers also process messages you send. External resources and sharing platforms you choose are governed by their own policies.

Retention, deletion and international processing

We have no financial-input database. Browser storage follows the lifetimes and controls described above. Correspondence is kept as needed to answer inquiries, follow up issues and maintain necessary records, and should be deleted or de-identified when no longer needed. Technical-log and GA4 retention depend on the service, account settings and applicable requirements; we do not invent a single unverified retention period.

Cloudflare, Google and email providers may process information outside your country or region, where data-protection rules may differ. Provider terms and applicable law govern international processing. We do not claim that all data stays in Taiwan or that every transfer has a particular certification.

Changing consent and exercising your rights

Use Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice at any time. On withdrawal, the site disables subsequent GA4 transmission, attempts to remove accessible first-party _ga and _ga_ analytics cookies, and, when refusal is saved successfully, reloads if the analytics script was loaded to stop that script. Withdrawal does not automatically erase data already received by Google. Site code cannot guarantee removal of third-party, HttpOnly or otherwise inaccessible cookies.

Browser settings let you clear site data, manage cookies or restrict storage. If storage is blocked, your choice may apply only to the current page and you may be asked again later. Storage failure is never treated as permission.

Depending on applicable law and the information concerned, you may have rights to access, obtain a copy, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing. Email your request; we will verify identity only as necessary, assess whether information can reasonably be located and respond under applicable requirements. We may be unable to identify an individual in anonymous aggregate statistics and cannot guarantee deletion of every third-party record.

Security and minors

Encrypted transport, limiting unnecessary collection and maintaining code help reduce risk. Internet transmission, browsers, providers and user devices cannot be risk-free. The site is not a custody service for sensitive financial information.

This is a general financial-education site and is not intended to collect personal information from children. Minors should seek a parent or guardian's assistance where needed. Contact the operator if you believe a child has supplied information that should not be retained. We do not assume a single age threshold applies everywhere.

Advertising, updates and contact

Google AdSense, advertising placements and advertising-purpose cookies are not currently enabled. Any future advertising launch requires a separate review of data, providers and consent requirements, and corresponding document and interface updates. Analytics permission will not be treated as advertising permission.
